First, AC Milan missed the chance to extend their lead on the point table after a 1-1 draw against Udinese, and then Inter Milan drew against Genoa to throw away the golden opportunity to be on the top of the point table. The title race in Serie is getting more interesting after both the Milan teams dropped points on Friday.

This will be an excellent opportunity for Napoli to climb to the top if they win against Lazio in the weekend game. The recent results in Serie A prove that the title race will go further till the last match of this season.

AC Milan vs Udinese

AC Milan slipped up for the second time in as many weeks on Friday with a 1-1 draw with Udinese. Leaders Milan looked set to secure first place for at least another round of fixtures when Rafael Leao slotted home his eighth league goal of the season in the 29th minute.

But in the second half, Italian youngster Destiny Udogie scored the equaliser for Udinese to escape with a draw and move four points away from the relegation zone.

“I’m very happy. It was my first goal as a professional player, but I’m more happy to have helped the team,” Udogie sadi after the game.

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli was disappointed after winning only two of their last six league games. He was also furious about the referee’s decision in the game against Udinese.

“In my opinion, it is not a dubious goal, and it is evident that he scored by using a hand,” Pioli said. “The referee did not see, but that why did the VAR not see it?

“The VAR exists to remedy certain errors and we have already been penalised more than once this season. Maybe Udinese would have drawn anyway but not in this situation, as the goal was scored by a hand.”

Genoa vs Inter Milan

Inter Milan had the chance to be on the top of the point table by levelling on points with AC Milan. But the game against Genoa was frustrating for the Nerazzurri when they were held for a goalless draw. It also stretched the champions’ winless league run to four games. Now they are two points behind the local rivals. But they have played one less game, and it will be a relief for them.

Genoa stays second bottom on 17 points from 27 games, five points from the safety zone after just one league win all season.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi did not criticise the team much and said that at this moment in the title race, teams would drop points for various reasons.

“It’s a strange thing, but in this moment of the season, we are both starting to feel tired,” Inzaghi said. “The result leaves a bad taste in our mouth because we could not have approached this game better.

“We are trying to improve on a daily basis. We lack that spark that we were able to find before. We will return to winning ways soon but we must not lose our heads.”
