Just halfway into Antonio Conte’s first season in charge, Inter find themselves just three points behind Serie A leaders Juventus. They have lost only once (to Juventus) and have conceded just 18 goals – the best defensive record in the league as per Skysports.

They may have dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group, but the Nerazzuri clearly have their eyes on the title and look like they have what it takes to topple Juve this term.

There have been a number of standout performers so far, but here are the top stars who would be in contention to win the Nerazzurri’s player of the season award.

Everyone can agree that this time around, the Serie A has a somewhat entertaining title race that is looking fun to watch. Inter face Milan next on Sunday and will be taking the Milan derby with maximum urgency. You can get the latest Serie A livescore thai score here and have a look on happenings in the league.

A number of players have lead Inter’s charge so far but we take a look at the most prominent names.

Romelu Lukaku

Following his move from United in the summer, Lukaku has got to a good start in Italy.

The Belgian has scored an impressive 20 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions, with four assists in the mix as well.

In 22 Serie A appearances, the 26-year-old has scored 16 times, including a brace against the likes of Napoli, Genoa, Bologna, Sassuolo and Udinese.

The 26-year-old’s consistency is justifying Conte’s continued pursuit of the striker as well as the hefty fee Inter shelled out for his services.

Lukaku has also struck up a dream partnership upfront with Lautaro Martinez, with the deadly duo spearheading Inter’s title charge.

Lautaro Martinez

As it stands, the 22-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest prospects after a breakthrough season at Inter.

Alongside Lukaku, he has scored 16 times, as well as having four assists to his name. The fact that the youngster managed to get this number of goals even with the presence of Lukaku makes it all the more impressive.

In the league, Martinez has scored 12 times in his 20 appearances, and as earlier mentioned, the Argentinian has developed a good bromance with strike partner Lukaku.

Together, they have a whopping 34 goals between them. To put their importance into perspective, Inter’s next top scorer – Stefano Sensi – has netted just three times in the league. Quite impressive. Right?

With Christian Eriksen recently joining the setup, Inter’s attacking threat is set to become even more potent.

It remains to be seen whether Martinez will remain at Inter for long but for now he is perfectly delivering the goods.

Antonio Candreva

When you think of the saying “age is just a number”, Antonio Candreva easily explains that narrative.

The 32-year-old veteran still remains a key figure in Antonio Conte’s squad and has also been one of Inter’s consistent performers this season.

In 23 appearances (all competitions), Candreva has scored four times and supplied a further five assists.

His most impressive performances have come at the San Siro. Against Parma in October he both scored and assisted, and when Inter hosted Genoa he bagged a brace of assists.

However, the Italian’s place in the side is under threat due to the arrival of Victor Moses.

It is not a straightforward decision but surely his performances have merited that he remains a starter till the end of the season.
