The defending champions Inter Milan will play Parma in their Coppa Italia opener on Tuesday (January 10).

One of eight Serie A teams to automatically advance to the Round of 16 is the host team.

Inter is coming off a 2-2 draw against Monza on Sunday and has gone unbeaten in their last four league games. In each of the previous three seasons, they have advanced to the Coppa Italia semifinals.

Parma, on the other hand, defeated Bari 1-0 and Salernitana 2-0 to advance to the Round of 16. They have lost both of their most recent Serie B contests and, like Inter, they too are coming off a 2-2 tie with Venezia in December.

Franco Vazquez bagged a brace, but two goals in 12 second-half minutes meant they dropped points for the second straight league game.

The two northern rivals have squared off 65 times across competitions since their first Coppa Italia meeting in 1960. As expected, the hosts have dominated proceedings, leading 27-19.

Four of their last five meetings have produced over 2.5 goals, with Inter going unbeaten.

Not only that but Inter has been in excellent form at home; they have won six straight games in all competitions while recording five shutouts. They have only given up one goal while scoring 17.

Parma, on the other hand, has gone unbeaten in their last three away games. In their last four encounters with Inter, who are predicted to cruise to victory, they have scored at least once each time.

1×2 Betting Odds

Even though Inzaghi is most likely to make numerous changes to the starting lineup, we anticipate Inter to have too much depth for their Serie B opponents.

In terms of their Coppa Italian run, Parma’s recent form has been rather erratic, and it is likely to be one game too far for them in terms of their Coppa Italian run!

And the betting market agrees!

Playing at the San Siro, Inter are the favourites to win with market odds standing @ 1.25.

Parma who have gone undefeated in their last 3 matches can carry a sense of optimism with them, but their odds of winning against one of Italy’s great are bleak @ 12.50.

The possibility of a stalemate after 90 mins are played, stands @ 7.60.

Total goals over/under

The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.40.

While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 3.15.

Playing against Inter Milan might become too much of a task for Serie B’s Parma. The market expect Inter to win and win big because of the quality the side possess!
