Nantes v Juventus  – Betting Preview

Nantes Summary

The French club Nantes has won two games in their last five in Ligue 1, including the most recent one, a 3-1 loss to Lens on Saturday.

Nantes sit nine points above the drop zone and are feeling comfortable in midtable. Their main aim domestically has become avoiding being dragged into the relegation scrap, but this tournament is a very welcome distraction and they want to get as far as possible.

Having drawn 1-1 in the first leg in Turin, they have given themselves a massive boost and a great chance to shock the Italian giants and progress to the next round.

They showed great character and snatched a draw from behind at the Allianz Stadium in the first leg of this UEFA Europa League match.

This is a French club with a respectable European pedigree and for fans with long memories, they want to avenge being knocked out in the 1996 UEFA tie by Juve. That loss came the year after they reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals, one of their best years in European competition.

The aim will be to build on a strong defence and score first. They have recorded three shutouts in four home games so far this year.

Juventus Summary

A struggling Juventus come into this game with morale and confidence on the rise, but generally, the club is going through turmoil and disappointment.

They currently sit in a low 7th place in Serie A, a huge 12 points from the 4th placed side AC Milan.

Having been almost a permanent fixture in previous years’ champions leagues, Juvenutus will likely have locked onto winning this Europa league to get back to where they think they belong, the UEFA Champions League.

Juventus know that winning this competition is now their only realistic route to the ultimate UEFA competition.

The Turin giants won 2-0 on the weekend against lowly Spezia which continued their improved form. On a positive note, they have made up ground on this above them in the top flight in Italy. This after winning their last three matches.

The visitor was extremely disappointed not to have won the first leg, but are still considered favourites to progress having never failed to score in a UEL clash away from home.

Juventus has a good record against teams representing France, winning 19, while drawing and losing the same number, 8. This is a match that they need to win to progress smoothly to the next stage
