World-renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided AC Milan fans with a huge update regarding the future of one of their stars.

The reputable journalist has revealed that he expects Zlatan Ibrahimovic to remain at the club and sign a new deal that will see him remain with the I Rossoneri for the upcoming Serie A campaign.

Romano stated on American TV network, CBS Sports, that negotiations have been progressing well and that the former Sweden international will sign a new deal in the coming days to remain in Milan.

As of today, it is certainly an exciting time to be an AC Milan fan.

Indeed, Ibrahimovic has been a huge success during his short time at AC Milan as he initially joined on a short-term deal back in January.

In the six months he was with the club, the veteran managed to record an impressive 10 goals and provide his team-mates with an additional five assists in Serie A action – showing no signs that he is ready to hang his boots up for good just yet.

The Swede joined AC Milan from LA Galaxy on a free transfer once his contract in the United States came to an end and there would have been some scepticism considering that he was signing as a 38-year-old.

Ibrahimovic recently became the first player to score 50 Serie A goals for both Milan-based clubs, doing so during a 4-1 victory over Sampdoria.

Of course, scoring goals has been something that the world-class forward has never struggled to do.

Across his illustrious career, which has been trophy-laden, the Swede has managed to amass figures of 467 goals and 185 assists in his 761 total appearances to date across spells with Malmo FF, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan on three occasions, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy.

His goalscoring feats were not just limited to club football, either. Having featured for Sweden 116 times, the experienced striker bagged an impressive 62 goals in those matches.

There is no doubt that his latest spell with AC Milan is entirely different to the previous spells he has had with I Rossoneri over the years. For example, the club do not have the stars that they used to have but Zlatan can now adopt a different role within the squad, whilst still being an important component of the side.

He can show some much-needed leadership within the team as he could advise a number of the younger players such as Rafael Leao and help to take them to the level that Milan would expect their players to reach.

Another year of Ibrahimovic at AC Milan could be crucial to their plans and help them finally restore some pride back to the squad. Indeed, with his help upfront, they managed a sixth-placed finish in the Serie A and will look to compete in the Europa League in the 2020/21 campaign.
