Fiorentina are said to be monitoring the situation of Lucas Torreira and could provide him a route back to Italy.

The Uruguay international left Sampdoria in the summer of 2018 and joined Arsenal, however his career has since stalled as he has had trouble getting game-time and adapting to new environments.

The Gunners loaned Torreira out to Atletico de Madrid in the summer transfer window just gone, however the Los Rojiblancos could be preparing to send him back to the north London outfit as they are not particularly impressed with what they have seen from the South American. Diego Simeone is also not thought to be the player’s biggest fan, either. We would not like his luck at these non UK casinos, that’s for sure!

According to a report by La Nazione, though, Torreira could leave the Wanda Metropolitano and head to Fiorentina instead on a short-term deal. La Viola are thought to be on red alert in regards to his current situation and feel he can be a player that can help them achieve their aims in the second part of the Serie A season.

As mentioned, the 24-year-old has a huge amount of experience in regards to playing in Serie A, having featured for Sampdoria. The Uruguay international has also attracted plenty of interest from football clubs in the league before as well, with AC Milan thought to have been interested in his services in the past.

Since making the move to England and the Premier League, Torreira’s career has gone into freefall, and he has struggled. His spell at Atletico de Madrid has not helped, either, as he finds himself behind the likes of Geoffrey Kondogbia, Héctor Herrera and Koke in the pecking order, despite having been able to play the first few games. He has managed to achieve a total of 200 minutes in La Liga, though, with just two starts.

A move to Fiorentina, though, could be the perfect move to save his career and get the 24-year-old back on the right path to being as good as everyone once thought he was. A return to Serie A could see him return to first-team football on a regular basis and provide him with the platform to star again.
