You would have to delve deep into the history archives if you were to try and find the last time that Juventus, Inter, AC Milan, and Roma had each lost on the same day in Serie A.
In fact, the last time that did happen was in February 1955, although that record has now been reset as we witnessed it happen again just this past weekend.
Indeed, it was a frustrating day for many of the league’s biggest hitters, with fans who like to place sports bets on the sites that offer some incredible bonus codes perhaps also sharing their frustrations when they used the options on https://www.apostas-desportivas.org/, especially if they felt that they were on for a guaranteed win this weekend.
Whoever said Serie A was boring now and not what it was back in the 90s might want to have taken a look at what happened this weekend…
Juventus were handed a shock 1-0 defeat by Serie A newbies Monza; a result that meant the newly-promoted side managed to obtain their first-ever win in Italy’s top division – celebration enough, let alone defeating the Old Lady as they did.
Inter received their third defeat of the season at the hands of Udinese after they lost 3-1, while AC Milan were beaten by Napoli 2-1. The victory against the current champions means Napoli sit top of the league as they remain unbeaten, alongside Atalanta who managed to defeat Roma 1-0.
That match was not without incident as Jose Mourinho decided to run on the pitch and remonstrate with the referee. Naturally, this led to a red card for the Portuguese coach and will see him miss the game against Inter.
Elsewhere, Cremonese and Sampdoria are still looking for their first wins of the season. Cremonese were defeated 4-0 by Lazio – who climbed to fourth in the process – and have conceded 14 goals so far in their seven matches.
Sampdoria were beaten 2-1 by Spezia away from home with M’Bala Nzola scoring inside 20 minutes from time to compound the visitors to defeat. Sampdoria are currently sitting rock-bottom of the Serie A table, having scored four goals and conceded 13 in their seven games. Cremonese are only just above them despite conceding more because they have managed to score one more.
As we said, Serie A is nothing but boring these days and there is plenty that can happen when the players take to the field. Hopefully, for the sake of the game and the enjoyment it can bring to neutrals, we will not have to wait another 67 years before seeing that same historic feat happen again!
