Rabiot’s French teammate has actually taken a pay cut to return to Serie A, where he’ll earn a weekly wage of around €122,000 a week and an annual salary of €7.5 million.
Pogba was earning £290,000 a week at Manchester United, and who knows how he’ll feel about not being the highest earner at Juventus?
#2. Alexis Sanchez (Inter Milan) – €10 Million-per-year
On the subject of pay cuts, Alexis Sanchez was thought to be earning a basic salary of £350,000 per annum during his time at Manchester United.
This means he was earning a cool £18.2 million-per-year at Old Trafford, although he failed to live up to his reputation as one of the world’s best forwards following his big-money move from Arsenal.
Despite having taken a huge pay cut, Sanchez is the second-highest earner in Serie A, banking €10 million-per-annum and a weekly wage of approximately €192,000.
This is still a sizable sum of cash, and indicative of a forward who’s highly thought of and respected across the globe.
#1. Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus) – €12m-per-year
We’ll close with another Juventus’ player in the form of Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt, who joined the Old Lady for €75 million following a stellar season for Ajax in the 2018/19 campaign.
As part of this five-year deal, de Ligt is paid an impressive €12 million-a-year for his services, with this equating to a weekly salary of slightly over €230,000 each week.
This makes de Ligt the best-paid player in both Turin and Serie A as a whole, which is impressive given the Dutchman’s tender age of 22.
Interestingly, de Ligt is currently being linked to both Bayern Munich and Chelsea, so his time in Italy may soon be drawing to a close.
