The start of the Serie A season is just days away and with Inter, looking to close the gap on last year’s champions we take a look at the current squads and as the question, have Inter done enough to close the gap on Juventus, to lift the 2021Serie A title? Read on to see what we think,

The 2019/2020 season was a closely run affair, with Juventus running out as champions by a single point. In reality that gap could be construed as misleading, given that Juventus dominant for much of the season. It was a run of fairly indifferent results since the resumption that closed the points difference and gave the impression that the title was a closely run thing.

Conte should be praised for the work he has done at Inter. The signing of many of Manchester United’s indifferent players at the start of last season may have raised a few eyebrows, but the way Conte has integrated them and made them gel is testament to his man management. The likes of Lukaku and Young have had a second lease of life at the club, with the former becoming something of a fan favourite at the San Siro.

It is clear that Conte has focussed the majority of his attention on midfield during the summer window with the addition of 3 players. Sensi, Barella and Hakimi, will all provide different options as well as far greater strength in depth. You can also expect better service to the likes of Lukaku, who only seems to need half a chance to grab you an all-important goal.

With Inter priced at even money by most major bookmakers, they are 2nd favourites to lift the title. Juventus are best priced 5/6, but with the prowess of the aging Ronaldo fading, we see the value in siding with Conte and Inter. Pirlo is a relatively inexperienced manager and he will have his work cut out managing the egos in his dressing room. We reckon that this could be the year for Inter to lift the title.
