The Serie 2024/25 Campaign – Who are the Teams to Watch?

Internazionale were simply outstanding domestically in 2023/24, winning their second Serie A title in four years by a staggering 19 points from their bitter city rivals AC Milan.

They’re also the odds-on to retain their title in the upcoming campaign, ahead of what’s sure to be much sterner competition from Juventus (who have hired Thiago Motta as their new head coach), Milan and 2022/23 Scudetto winners Napoli.

During the course of searching for promo codes for poker sites, you can check out the latest outright odds alongside a much broader range of markets and betting lines online. But who are the teams to watch in 2024/25, and what might they achieve come the end of the season?

1.   Inter

Despite the wide margin of their 2023/24 title triumph, Inter haven’t rested on their laurels under the shrewd stewardship of Simeone Inzaghi. In fact, they’ve invested €64 million on refreshing their title winning squad, with €29 million spent on securing the permanent transfer of creative midfielder Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo.

Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez has also joined from Genoa for a fee of €14 million, while Samba midfielder Carlos Augusto has completed a €13 million move from Monza. Veteran Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic has also become a permanent Inter player, with Bologna having accepted an €8 million bid for his services.

Inter have also done sterling work in the free transfer market. After releasing Alexis Sanchez from his contract, Inzaghi moved to sign experienced Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi for free from Porto. Taremi scored 91 goals in 182 games for FC Porto, including 25 in 55 European appearances.

Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski has also been signed on a free transfer from Napoli, so Inter have clearly been motivated to bolster an already dominant squad and sign players with previous Serie A experience where possible. This spells danger for the rest of the league.

2.   Atalanta

Atalanta won just their second major honour and maiden European title in 2023/24, as they ruthlessly ended Bayer Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten run and treble tilt in the UEFA Europa League final.

The talented Ademola Lookman struck a superb hattrick in the final, while registering 17 goals in 45 matches in all competitions. He has contributed 32 goals in his last 78 games for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men during the previous two seasons, while Atalanta have bolstered their attack further with the €22 million signing of Belgium’s Charles De Ketelaere from Milan.

Skilful midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has also joined on a season-long loan from Galatasaray for a fee of €6.4 million, after the 25-year-old starred for Aston Villa in the Premier League last season.

Atalanta have also signed the excellent English defender Ben Godfrey from Everton for just €12 million, while the powerful midfield pivot Ibrahim Sulemana has been snapped up from Cagliari for a fee of €7.5 million too. They’ve hung on to their very best players too so far this summer, and should be able to compete for a Champions League place at the very least.

3.   Napoli

Napoli have undergone something of a transition this summer, with the aforementioned Piotr Zielinski leaving the club alongside Alessandro Zanoli, Giuseppe D’Agostino and Giuseppe Ambrosino.

However, they’ve added the powerful defender Alessandro Buongiorno to their ranks, after he completed a €35 million move from Torino. Spanish defender Rafa Marin has also joined from Real Madrid for just €12 million, while their best bit of business has seen them snap up the dynamic left back Leonardo Spinazzola on a free transfer from Roma.

On the topic of free transfers, Serbian midfielder Matija Popovic on a free transfer from Monza. This will add steel and energy in the middle of the park, and the only real question that remains is whether the Azzurri can hang on to their talisman striker Victor Osimhen amid interest from PSG and Chelsea.

However, perhaps Napoli’s biggest signing is head coach Antonio Conte. He has won four Serie A titles for Juventus and Inter during his stellar management career, while his impressive win-rate of 58.08% from 613 matches make him perfectly equipped to mount a significant title challenge in 2024/25.
