Why is it Smart to Bet that Inter Will Win the Serie A in 2024

The Italian Serie A is one of the top soccer leagues in the world, packed with legendary clubs. There are so many great rivalries in the Italian game and some of the most popular teams in the world play in Serie A.

Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma, AC Milan, Napoli, Lazio, and Fiorentina are just some of the big clubs in Italian soccer. The 2023/24 season is sure to be another thrilling campaign, with a group of teams having realistic ambitions to win the title. However, the smart money is on Inter Milan to win Serie A in 2024. What makes Inter Milan a good bet to win the title?

Determination to Improve

It is fair to say Inter Milan have fallen short in recent years in the Serie A title race. Last season ended in disappointment as Inter Milan finished in third place, 18 points off the winners.

Napoli enjoyed an outstanding season, something which they are unlikely to repeat any time soon but Inter Milan were well short of the required standard in the league. They finished second in 2021/22 and last won the Serie A title in 2020/21, finishing 12 points clear of AC Milan. There is increased pressure on Simone Inzaghi to deliver the title for Inter Milan this season and his future will be on the line should they fail.

This will only add to the determination of the staff and players to succeed. Inter Milan will be keen to live up to their reputation as the favorites in the sports wagering apps and to not allow any other team to pull away like Napoli did last season.

Experienced Additions to the Squad

There has been a significant turnover of players at Inter Milan over the summer. Several players have left the club, including Samir Handanović, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Milan Škriniar, Edin Džeko, Marcelo Brozović, André Onana, Robin Gosens, and Andrea Pinamonti. However, Inter Milan have been busy adding players to their squad, with some experienced names coming into the club over the summer.

Yann Sommer, the Swiss international goalkeeper has joined from Bayern Munich, Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard are two international defenders who have arrived, in addition to Juan Cuadrado, Davy Klaassen, and Alexis Sánchez.

Perhaps the most exciting signing by Inter Milan in the summer is Marcus Thuram who joined from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer. The French international forward should help to take the load off Lautaro Martínez. Austrian international striker Marko Arnautović adds further experience to the Inter Milan squad having joined on loan from Bologna.

There is no doubt Inter Milan have one of the most experienced squads in European football and that is one of the reasons why they are a smart bet to win the 2023/24 Serie A title.

Lautaro Martínez

Inter Milan are considered the favorites to win the league in Italy this season because they have Lautaro Martínez. The Argentine striker is arguably the best goalscorer in Serie A and he has scored over 20 goals in each of the past two seasons. No other striker in the Italian game has managed to score more than 20 goals in each of the last two seasons and, at the time of writing, in 241 games for Inter Milan, Martínez has scored 107 goals.

Victor Osimhen was the standout striker in Serie A last season but he only managed 14 goals in the previous campaign. Inter Milan will be delighted there were no big offers for Martínez in the summer transfer window and the striker could be the player to make the difference in the title race this season.

Weaker Napoli

There is no doubt the defending champions, Napoli, are weaker this season.

Kim Min-jae was a hugely important player for Napoli in central defence last season and he has moved to Bayern Munich. Napoli also have a new manager in Rudi Garcia and he may take some time to get the team playing in his preferred style.

With Juventus and Roma likely to be out of the picture, that leaves AC Milan as potentially the biggest threat to Inter Milan. They have been extremely busy in the transfer market but have lost influential midfielder, Sandro Tonali. That came as a big blow to AC Milan and makes them weaker in the middle of the pitch. With the key challengers losing big players, everything points to an Inter Milan title this season.
